ARTWORK > Textiles - "Not Just a Watermelon" Series (2023 - Present)

As a Muslim and Lebanese-American artist, my practice is rooted in identity. In times when voices are distorted or silenced, art becomes a witness to humanity and compassion. This series of hand-stitched and embellished cloth talisman dolls explores Palestinian symbols of (the key and the watermelon) as emblems of resilience, the right of return, and solidarity in the face of genocide in Gaza and the illegal occupation of Palestine.
Hold your humanity close and may our acts of resistance lead to liberation.

Each piece is mixed media and cloth and measures approximately 6 x 6 inches.
